The firm is seeking to strengthen its business development and client engagement capabilities through the appointment of a Chief Interface Officer.
Job Summary
This senior executive role interfaces with clients and other entities the firm relates with, coordinating communication, relationship management, and strategic visibility for the firm. The CIO is responsible for shaping and implementing strategies to drive business growth and enhance revenue generation in the firm.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Business Planning
• Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the firm's goals and objectives.
• Analyze market trends, identify growth opportunities, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
Client Relationship Management
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, ensuring satisfaction and identifying areas for additional collaboration.
• Collaborate with lawyers to understand client needs and expectations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
New Client Acquisition
• Lead efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities, including targeting potential clients and industries.
• Oversee the development of tailored pitches, proposals, and presentations to win new clients.
Market Intelligence
• Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to provide the firm with a competitive edge.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging opportunities and potential risks.
Brand Management
• Enhance the firm's visibility and reputation through effective branding and marketing initiatives.
• Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote the firm's expertise and thought leadership in commercial law.
Collaboration and Communication
• Foster collaboration and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to align business development efforts with overall firm strategies.
Revenue Generation
• Achieve revenue targets set for the firm by driving business development initiatives and expanding the firm's client base.
• Monitor financial performance and identify areas for revenue growth and cost optimization.
Team Leadership
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing business development team.
• Provide guidance, training, and professional development opportunities to team members.
Metrics and Reporting
• Prepare regular reports and presentations to the Management Committee, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
Compliance and Risk Management
• Ensure that business development activities comply with legal and ethical standards.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with new business opportunities.
Financial Target
• Increase new client revenue by ₦360 million per annum (₦90 million per quarter).
Key Performance Indicators
Client Acquisition Rate – 10%
• The number of new clients acquired within the appraisal period.
Revenue Generated – 50%
• Total revenue from the clients acquired through the business development efforts and initiatives.
Visibility/Brand Awareness Metrics – 15%
• Tracking metrics such as website traffic, social media engagement, and media mentions to gauge the firm's visibility and reputation in the market.
Maintaining Existing Relationships – 15%
• Client visits and retaining existing clients, generating repeat work.
Networking and Relationship Building – 10%
• Number of new professional relationships established, attendance at related events, and participation in relevant networking activities.
Competency and Skills Requirements
• Ability to analyse commercial market trends, identify competitive advantages, and shape high-level growth strategies.
• Demonstrated history of acquiring high-value corporate clients, driving multi-hundred-million Naira revenue growth, and closing strategic business partnerships.
• Mastery in overseeing tailored proposals, pitches, and senior-level presentations to prospective corporate clients.
• Advanced networking, negotiation, and client retention skills to engage C-level executives, board members, and legal practice partners.
Minimum Qualifications
• Degree in Law (LL.B), Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Strategic Management, or a related commercial field.
• MBA, master's in marketing/strategy is an added advantage.
• 10–15+ years of progressive experience in business development, corporate strategy, brand management, or client relationship management.
